Participants, particularly novice members should read the details of how to prepare and compete in orienteering events. Beginners will benefit by reading http://orienteering.asn.au/index.php/getting-started

Committee Meetings

If you feel that you want to have a say in the running of the club, ordinary members are entitled and welcome to come along to the AWOC Committee meetings. These take place on the second Tuesday of each month from 8pm at various venues. Feel free to come along and have your input into the running of our club.

Volunteering

As you would appreciate, running a club and activities takes a lot of voluntary effort.  We are always aftervolunteers to assist with committee activities, course design, preparation and setting up and administrative tasks.  The work can be good fun and a great learning experience.  There will always be experienced members to turn to for advice and volunteers will be trained for the various roles.  Let the club know if you are able to help and in what particular activities you are interested.

Social Evenings

Our traditional winter get togethers are back on, starting Wednesday 20 June at Liz and Tony's in Albury. Meet at 6.30pm sharp for a run or walk of about 45 minutes duration, then stay and share a casual soup and snacks meal. These evenings will continue monthly for the next few months at different locations, however they will take place in future on the second Wednesday of each month.

Upcoming Events

Other News

Level 1 Coaching Course

The level 1 course is designed for club level coaches. It is a single day course and involves both seminar and practical activities. At completion of the course, participants will be confident approaching and engaging with new participants and beginners, as well as organising club level training activities to progressively challenge athletes. Due to our current need to increase participation amongst families, females and 18-25 year olds, there will be a focus on strategy and best practise for appealing to these demographics. Accreditation is FREE to those who complete all accreditation requirements. Participants must be 16 years or older and possess a current Working with Children Check. If there are three or more members interested from the Albury-Wodonga Region, we are happy to coordinate a date and location that suits everyone. If you are interested in participating please contact Rick Armstrong-  rickarm@hotmail.com or 0417 562 321 or (02) 6041 2059

First Aid Training

In an effort to encourage to have more members with First Aid training the club is offering a grant of $100 to any member who wishes to obtain or update a First Aid certificate. Contact Rick if you are interested.

Running Singlets
Fabrizio is organising running singlets which recognize the role AWOC played in founding and organizing the Nail Can Hill run for 30 plus years. If you need a new singlet or are participating in the NCHR these would be ideal. For more details Click Here.

New Club Competition Clothing

A new AWOC cycling top and bib shorts are available.  If you would like to purchase the new uniform please contact Fabrizio.  Full details are here.

Defibrillator
The club has now taken possession of a defibrillator, which must be taken to all events, as it could be a lifesaver in an emergency. The equipment is very simple to use. You take it from the container, press a button to turn it on and it voice prompts you on what steps to follow.

Course Setters Required

The club is seeking course setters for all the Albury events in the upcoming Interclub competition. Mentoring and coaching are available if you are interested, but lack the necessary experience. See the events calendar on the Events page for details. Please contact Rick at rickarm@hotmail.com if you can assist.
