Compete Safely!

Participants, particularly novice members should read the details of how to prepare and compete in orienteering events. Beginners will benefit by reading http://orienteering.asn.au/index.php/getting-started

Committee Meetings

If you feel that you want to have a say in the running of the club, ordinary members are entitled and welcome to come along to the AWOC Committee meetings. These take place on the second Tuesday of each month from 8pm at various venues. Feel free to come along and have your input into the running of our club.

Volunteering

As you would appreciate, running a club and activities takes a lot of voluntary effort.  We are always after volunteers to assist with committee activities, course design, preparation and setting up and administrative tasks.  The work can be good fun and a great learning experience.  There will always be experienced members to turn to for advice and volunteers will be trained for the various roles.  Let the club know if you are able to help and in what particular activities you are interested.

Upcoming Events

SUNDAY 26 MARCH-INTERCLUB WAGAROOS/AWOC POMINGALARNA

This is a lovely orienteering area, right on the edge of Wagga. Lots of easy tracks to follow and mainly gentle slopes. Share transport is available, leaving Albury around 8.15am, contact Rick 0417562321, or rickarm@hotmail.com. For those travelling independently directions follow:

At the junction of the Olympic Hwy (A41) and Sturt Highway (A20) turn left towards Narrandera. The entrance to Pomingalarna Park is about 2 km along the Sturt Hwy on the right. Take care - the entrance is slightly hidden behind a low cutting as you approach and vehicles behind you will be hammering along at speed and not expecting you to slow and turn.

Four courses: Hard 1 - 6.3km; Hard 2 - 4.2km; Moderate - 2.9km; Easy - 1.9km

STREET AND PARK ORIENTEERING

On the Reports page you will see the results of all the individual Street and Park O 2016/2017 events. To access the points score table for the Street and Park O events click this link.

DEFIBRILLATOR TRAINING

The club is in the process of obtaining a defibrillator shortly. A training evening in its use will be held in late March, further details shortly when exact dates are know. It would be great if as many members can attend to learn how to use this vital piece of equipment.

COURSE SETTERS REQUIRED

The club is seeking course setters for all the Albury events in the upcoming Interclub competition. Mentoring and coaching are available if you are interested, but lack the necessary experience. See the events calendar on the Events page for details. Please contact Rick at rickarm@hotmail.com if you can assist.
